Following the news that Blaise Metreweli had been appointed head of MI6, I was called upon to provide expert commentary for a range of media outlets. It was a long and enjoyable day celebrating the major milestone in MI6 history - for the first time in 116 years, Britain's foreign intelligence service will be led by a woman.

First, I joined Naga Munchetty on BBC Radio 5 Live.
